Three infant formula products have been recalled on Abbott’s global website. CCTV financial reporter contacted Abbott China, which said that xikang Baby Tian, a nutritional supplement for infants, has been removed from abbott’s official flagship stores on Tmall and JD.com.If consumers hold Xikang Baby Tian products valid after April 1, 2022, they can call the official customer service hotline 4008206111 for return consultation.On February 17, Abbott Announced a voluntary recall of Similac, Alimentum and EleCare infant formula manufactured at a factory in Michigan, USA.There have been four consumer complaints about the milk powder.Abbott said tests conducted at the Michigan plant as part of its quality inspection process found enterobacter sakazakii in non-product contact areas of the plant, but there is no evidence of salmonella and the investigation is ongoing.The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said in a statement that it was investigating consumer complaints of infections caused by Cronobacter sakazaki and Salmonella Newport in Abbott products.”All four cases related to these complaints were hospitalized, and one death may have been caused by Cronobacter,” the agency said.The FDA also warned that some abbott products made at the Sturgis plant in Michigan may have been exported to other countries.In a statement, the FDA said workers were conducting on-site inspections at the Abbott facility to determine which bacteria were causing the illness, destroy any contaminated products and warn consumers to temporarily avoid certain infant formula products made at the facility.The FDA also said a review of Abbott’s internal records showed earlier contamination of the facility with cronobacter spp. bacteria.Enterobacter sakazakii is an opportunistic pathogen that exists in the environment and may pose a higher health risk to infants aged 0-6 months, especially premature infants, low birth weight infants and infants with immune deficiency.
