The project is located in Xiaogan City, Hubei Province. The site is a typical hilly terrain of Jianghan Plain. At the beginning of the project, after investigating the terrain, the designer chose the construction site at the pond opposite to the village road, hoping that the vehicles coming down from the highway could see the whole building from a distance at first sight after turning into the country road with satisfactory poplar forests on both sides, thus forming a relationship with the landscape.During the planning stage, the designer went back and forth to the site many times to explore the characteristics of the site; The stepped ridge became a natural element of the design that was deliberately emphasized. The main designer Li Tao put a long volume on top of the three-level ridge ridge at the edge of the pond, and the 1,500 level difference deliberately preserved naturally formed a two-level space for the interior or inner courtyard of the building. This height difference is also a direct reflection of the exterior image of the building — slope roof: the lower side of the eaves near the water naturally corresponds to the lower side of the ridge of the field, and the eaves height is 4 meters; The higher eave side corresponds to the higher ridge side, the eave height is 6 meters; The processing of internal height difference has different expressions in different Spaces, which can objectively reflect the function and rhythm of space. The eaves on the side facing the water are 4 meters high, and the total length of the building is 104 meters. The proportion between the length and height forms the biggest feature of the project., parallel to the main building to township roads, looking in the past, the township roads more than horizontal cluster: township roads of guardrail, the edge of pool, building in front of a few level field ridge, building the eaves of the water in the side of the line, the construction of high side line, the eaves of the inner court, and the roof of the entrance to the gallery is horizontal, and the horizontal roof construction viewing platform. These horizontal lines reinforce the hilly topography of the Jianghan plain. As mentioned above, the project is located on the side of the village road across the pond. Visitors will have a first glimpse of the complete facade image of the building, long and low, in the gap between the village road and the Poplar forest.Continue to turn into the entrance road of the project, you will see the panorama of the building at a 45 degree Angle, the elongated lines bring the sense of perspective contraction, strengthen the length and horizontal sense of the building; Then along the ridge, into the corridor, to reach the entrance porch, can ascend to the hall.Or through the foyer to the side of the building’s higher facade.Walk different look and feel of the building, but also find the building does not exist a traditional design in the sense of “the main facade”, as le corbusier, v, villa, not the main facade, nor to strengthen entrance image, it is trying to be a designer’s, is also a response to the flat area of jianghan plain with no sense of direction.Under the unified large roof, the designer organized five boxes, two inner courtyards, three promenades, and a straight staircase, as well as the “remaining space” enclosed by these solid boxes and the roof, forming a restrained external image, while the interior is especially rich in wandering space. The five boxes follow a scale rhythm: big, small, biggest, smallest, and then bigger. The “remaining space” between the five boxes forms a different rhythm due to the height of the roof and the box, the size of the inner courtyard and the paddy field outside, the penetration and occlusion of the view, and the contrast between the opening and the density of the pitched roof.As mentioned above, the cross section of the building is designed based on the 1,500-meter height difference of the field ridge. The relationship between the five boxes and this height difference becomes the design method of the interior space, and the height difference also determines the interior function. The height difference between the two becomes the four-person booth area of the cafe. A small box is implanted between the height difference, which acts as the audio room on the high level and the background wall of the coffee bar on the low level. The enclosed side of the second box is the toilet, and the dressing room opens to the inner courtyard; The third box is the wedding hall, with the help of height difference naturally formed audience seats; The fourth small box is the reception hall, the fifth box is the conference room at the top, and the restaurant at the bottom is near the water. The height difference between the two boxes is truncated by the stairs inserted in the middle that run straight to the roof platform, directly separating the two spatial properties of open and private. The opening of each box follows the purpose of limiting and enhancing the surrounding landscape. The cafe, restaurant and wedding hall are all open to nature facing the pond.Especially in the wedding hall, the French window sash can be fully opened, and the outdoor boundless pool together with the pond water integration; The dressing room and reception room, facing the inner courtyard, are in a semi-open state; The French window of the toilet faces a local rubble masonry landscape wall, which not only achieves the role of open landscape, but also ensures privacy. All the viewing directions of the landscape are deliberately controlled by the designer; After experiencing all the horizontal views of the landscape, visitors will come to the final staircase that runs straight to the roof. The high walls of clear water and wood grain concrete on both sides cut out the linear sky, which is a reversal of the horizontal sense of the building and also a sublimation. The design of this project is not only a single architectural design, but also an attempt of UAO to integrate architecture, landscape and interior design from the beginning of planning. The planning reasonably organizes the vertical of the site and the circulation line of traffic, and the landscape retains the texture of rice fields. The threshing ground of the original village was transformed to form a campfire square. Relying on the original terrain and trees, a new spatial density relationship of plants was sorted out, making the process of arriving at the main building itself an expectation. The building relies on the logic of different ridges and heights, which makes the interior design come naturally, and the spatial rhythm runs through the whole process. The subsequent interior deepening gives more consideration to the lap and closure of materials, and ensures the unity of indoor and outdoor space and texture.Drawing: Section of plan –END–
